Antonina Shevchenko

Antonina is a Kyrgyzstani Peruvian Muay Thai fighter, mixed martial artist who currently competes with the UFC flyweight division. She is also the older sister of an earlier UFC Flyweight champ as well as fellow UFC athlete Valentina. Antonina Shevchenko began her combat sports journey as a Muay Thai boxer. She debuted in the IFMA World Championship Tournament 2003 Shevchenko was the winner of the event and defeated Suzane Miller in the finals by a unanimity. Antonina Shevchenko won a second medal in 2007 with a bronze, a silver in 2008 and a gold in 2011, and then was named as the IFMA Amateur World Muay Thai Champion in 2016. Antonia's professional debut came in 2003. In 2012, she took home her the WKC K-1 Light Welterweight World Championship In 2016, she won she won the Lion Fight Lightweight Championship and in 2016, she won the WMC World Championships. Antonina's last fight was at the Phoenix Fighting Championship against Isa Tidblad Keskikangas. She was able to win by a unanimous vote. Antonina Shychenko's professional MMA debut was in 2002 at the KFK Championship in Kyrgystan in which she fought Anara Bayanova. She won 3-0 following in the second round TKO. The following two bouts came at WXF: X-Impact World Championships in 2003. Shevchenko committed herself to kickboxing as she took a prolonged time off from MMA. She returned in 2017, when she fought Anissa Hasdaoui. Shevchenko defeated Anissa by a unanimous vote. She then went on to defeat Valerie Domergue during Phoenix FC 4. She quit the promotion and began Dana White's Contender Series 2018. Shevchenko took on Jaimelene Nievera in Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series 11, Antonina used her superior strike skills to TKO Nievera in the clinch via knees to the body. Antonina took the UFC deal following her win. Antonina took part in her UFC debut during the TUF Heavy Hhitters Finale, with Ji Yeon Kim. Shevchenko defeated Roxanne Modeafferi by an unanimous decision. However, she then was unable to win her next bout due to a split verdict. Antonina was able to bounce back from the defeat by beating Lucie Pudilova at UFC on ESPN Covington against Lawler via a rear-naked choke submission. This earned her the fight-of-the-night bonus. Shevchenko went 2-2 in her next 3 fights. She beat Ariane Lipski, but fell to Katlyn Chokagian as well as Andrea Lee. Antonina was defeated by Casey O'Neill by second-round TKO in the second round of UFC Fight Night Santos Walker.
